What to Do in a Dental Emergency

Experiencing a dental emergency can be stressful and in some cases, painful. That’s why we are here to help keep you calm and informed every step of the way. If you’ve knocked out or chipped a tooth, recover the tooth or fragments. Rinse them, if necessary, and put them into a container of cold milk to keep them moist. If you’ve lost a piece of dental work, put it in a small plastic baggie or container.  If you have time, you can treat yourself to make yourself more comfortable before your appointment.

Here are some tips to follow when experiencing an emergency that is causing you pain or discomfort:

  • Alternate taking Ibuprofen and acetaminophen every six hours
  • Keep Icing
  • Avoid eating on the area
  • Call the office and book an appointment right away

Above all, be sure to come to Aadland Dental as soon as you can to have your issue treated professionally. The above steps will only provide temporary relief, and it’s very important to get prompt care to keep your teeth healthy, relieve pain, and get back to your day-to-day life. We always have appointments available for emergencies. Call us at (360) 573-6047.

Common dental emergencies

Dental Bonding For Chipped Teeth

Dental bonding uses composite resin to reshape and repair teeth. It’s a common choice for repairing minor chips that only affect the outer layer of enamel.

Replacing Loose/Missing Dental Work

We can often replace loose or fractured dental work, or we may recommend a new filing, crown, or other piece of dental work to restore your smile.

Splinting Knocked-Out/Loose Teeth

If your tooth is knocked out or loose, you need to get help immediately. Our dentists will clean up the area and splint the tooth to the nearby teeth to keep it in place as it heals.

Root Canal & CEREC Crown For Infected Teeth (Toothache)

If you have a toothache, your tooth may be infected. If this is the case, you will need a root canal to clean out the tooth, and a CEREC same-day crown to protect it and restore its appearance.
